Nothing too much new going on here. For the preliminary French review course, I will be in level 7 (out of 9) which is fine. I could probably be in level 8, but for a two credit review class, I will just take the easier course. We have 1.5 hours of writing and 1.5 hours of phonetics. Both teachers are really nice and fun so I hope that it won't be too boring! The phonetics teacher is a riot, very engaging and I think he likes me because he kept talking to me. Afterward, two of my friends and I got some lunch at a cafe and did some shopping. It was pouring rain, so after we all got what we needed, we just headed home. My housing is still great. My host parents invited me to a concert at the music school across the street and I think I will go on Wednesday.
Tomorrow, for the inauguration, we will be having a party at school and watching it live. I have so many friends who will actually be there and I am a little jealous. As long as I get to see it, the man I voted for become President of the United States, then I don't care where I see it. I think we will have have a good time and be very excited.
Friday I am also going to try going to synagogue. There are two Liberal congregations that interest me. One is an Anglophone (I think it will probably be a lot of expats) congregation that is actually a 10 minute walk down my street. The other is an actual French synagogue, led by the first female rabbi in France. It is kind of far, but the synagogues website made it sound like an amazing community. I will go to Shabbat at both and see which I prefer. Hopefully this way I can find a place to go for the Jewish holidays. When I said I wanted to go to synagogue people kept being like are you observant? Why do you want to go? All the Bronfman people know how I feel about this haha I guess some people have never heard of Reform Judaism. I have found some other Jews on the trip so I hope that I can get one or two of them to join me.
Wednesday I hope to be able to see Astrid, my little French "cousin." She goes to school near me and Wednesday is a half day of school in France, so we are going to meet up for lunch or coffee and catch up. She said I should definitely come over her house for dinner and meet her family and it is actually near my apartment. I look forward to seeing her!
I think that is all for now.
A la prochaine...(until next time)
